'Deadline' - Student Thriller Opening Analysis - UNFINISHED

Deadline - Student Film

This is the opening of a thriller made by AS media students, in which I will analyse in terms of sound, mise en scene, editing and cinematography.

In regards to cinematography the opening to 'Deadline' included mainly close ups. There were many close ups on key props such as the hand hanging off the side of the bed and the medication on the table, which creates suspense, will immerse the audience, intriguing them and encouraging to continue watching. There is also a close up on the female characters face, suggesting that she will be a significant character in the film.

The opening appears to be a narrative film opening. It also includes stand alone title sequence, as well as some super imposed titles. The group have used continuity editing in order to piece establish a logical coherence between shots.

The film is set in a London flat, made obvious by the establishing shot. This gives a sense of normalcy and realism in which the audience will be able to relate to. There is an urban gritty feel which we reach a teenage and young adult target demographic.
